We are honored to welcome two exceptional leaders to TSNE’s Board of Directors: Erin McAleer, President & CEO of Project Bread, and David Shapiro, President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Boston.
Their appointments come at a pivotal moment for TSNE. As we navigate a rapidly shifting landscape in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, we are deepening our commitment to building more just, equitable, and resilient systems. The expertise that Erin and David bring, in movement building, public policy, nonprofit innovation, and organizational transformation, will be instrumental in helping us meet this moment with courage, clarity, and care.
“TSNE is at an inflection point, committed to operationalizing our values in every facet of our work, from the way we partner with community to the way we build internal culture,” said Elaine Ng, TSNE President and CEO. “Erin and David are not only visionary leaders, but also values-driven practitioners who deeply understand the systemic barriers our sector is up against—and the transformative potential of bold, equity-centered leadership.”
Erin McAleer has redefined what statewide food security can look like in Massachusetts, scaling Project Bread’s impact, launching innovative healthcare partnerships, and leading historic policy wins like universal free school meals. She brings a systems-thinking mindset, a public policy background, and a deep commitment to addressing racial disparities in food access and health.
David Shapiro brings more than 20 years of national leadership in mentoring, civic engagement, and youth development. Through his work at MENTOR, Mass Mentoring Partnership, and now at the YMCA of Greater Boston, David has championed the power of relationships and cross-sector collaboration to advance equity, educational opportunity, and social capital.
Their shared commitment to justice, community-rooted leadership, and movement building will be a guiding force as TSNE embarks on the next phase of our strategic evolution.
Please join us in welcoming Erin McAleer and David Shapiro to the TSNE community.
