BOSTON, MA – [MARCH 19, 2025] – At a time when diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are being challenged, scaled back, and politicized, Third Sector New England (TSNE) is celebrating its 65th anniversary and stepping forward with an urgent call to action. On March 20, 2025, at UMass Boston, TSNE will convene over 400 leaders, advocates, and changemakers for its inaugural Equity Forward: Creating a Just World Together conference—an essential gathering dedicated to reaffirming the importance of equity-driven leadership and ensuring that progress is not reversed. The event sold out within three weeks of launching.
As part of TSNE’s 65th anniversary, the day will conclude with a special 65Forward Reception, where Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea J. Campbell will deliver keynote remarks on the role of leadership in fostering systemic change.
“At this pivotal moment in history, we have an opportunity—and a responsibility—to lead with equity and justice at the center,” said Elaine Ng, President & CEO of TSNE. “Equity Forward is designed to empower leaders with the tools, connections, and strategies to drive lasting change in their organizations and communities. Equity Forward is not just a conference—it is a declaration that we will not retreat. We will continue to build spaces for learning, action, and impact.”
Why Equity Forward Matters Now More Than Ever
Diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts have come under increasing attack, with policies being dismantled and funding streams shifting. At the same time, organizations and communities continue to grapple with deep systemic inequities that demand bold, justice-centered leadership.
Equity Forward is designed as a space to: Strategize for the future of equity work in the face of mounting opposition. Equip leaders with tools to navigate challenges, sustain efforts, and drive lasting change. Strengthen cross-sector partnerships to push for meaningful and measurable impact. Build solidarity and community among those committed to justice and belonging.
Equity Forward will feature a dynamic speaker lineup: featuring national and local leaders from nonprofit, philanthropic, and public sectors, including experts in racial equity, inclusive leadership, and social impact. Attendees will participate in engaging sessions and workshops: covering topics such as inclusive hiring, equity-driven philanthropy, self-care for social justice leaders, and dismantling systemic barriers.
A Call to Action: Pushing Equity Forward Together
The 65Forward Reception will celebrate TSNE’s 65-year legacy while calling on leaders to remain steadfast in their commitment to justice. The evening will bring together conference attendees, partners, and sponsors, reaffirming our shared responsibility to advance equity, even in challenging times. And features an inspiring keynote from Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea J. Campbell.
TSNE is grateful for the support of The Barr Foundation, Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Relation Insurance TM and others, whose commitment to advancing equity fuels this important work.
We invite all who believe in a just and inclusive future to join us at Equity Forward. Let’s stand together, push forward, and build the world we know is possible.
