TSNE’s Statement on the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act

The TSNE Executive Team

This week, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act (H.R. 9495), a bill allowing a presidentially appointed treasury secretary to unilaterally strip a nonprofit of its federal tax status if deemed a “terrorism-supporting” organization, has passed in the US House of Representatives. TSNE opposes this bill and believes it undermines constitutional due process protections. As the bill now moves to the Senate, we urge the Senate and community to oppose the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act. Make your voice heard by contacting your senator and urging them to vote against the bill. Find your senator via this contact your senator tool.
