Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston chooses TSNE, Inc. as New Fiscal Sponsor

MLP | Boston joins 40 other social change groups as part of TSNE’s nationally recognized fiscal sponsorship program.

Boston, Mass., Tuesday, August 14, 2012 — After 20 successful years being embedded at Boston Medical Center (BMC), Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston (www.mlpboston.org) has joined 40 other social change groups as part of TSNE’s nationally recognized fiscal sponsorship program.

TSNE (www.tsne.org), is an established nonprofit that serves as a corporate umbrella for programs advancing the causes of equality and social justice. MLP | Boston’s offices will remain on the BMC campus. The organization’s human resources, fiscal management, and administration will be run out of the TSNE offices at the NonProfit Center in Boston.

“Like our founding partner Boston Medical Center, TSNE shares MLP | Boston’s core values and we are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate more closely with the TSNE team as the program grows and evolves,” says Samantha Morton, executive director, MLP | Boston.

MLP | Boston was launched 20 years ago by founder Dr. Barry Zuckerman, and with the intensive support of BMC. Today, with support from 21 private law firms and in-house pro bono partners, MLP | Boston provides services at Boston Medical Center (Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Women’s Health/Cancer Care), the Primary Care Center at Boston Children’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. MLP | Boston is the Founding Site of the national Medical-Legal Partnership Network (www.medical-legalpartnership.org), a network of over 80 medical-legal partnerships across the country, partnered with 280+ health care institutions. MLP | Boston actively supports the growing community of MLP projects that serve low-income, medically vulnerable patients in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, New England, and beyond.

“TSNE is delighted to work with MLP | Boston and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship,” says Jonathan Spack, executive director, TSNE. “MLP | Boston’s work in eliminating barriers to healthcare and health through legal advocacy will make a welcomed addition to the portfolio of social change programs that TSNE supports through its fiscal sponsorship program.”

About MLP | Boston

MLP | Boston allies health care teams and legal advocates to promote health and well-being through legal advocacy. Through capacity-building work, direct legal assistance to patients, and policy change efforts, MLP | Boston seeks to address those social determinants of health that have legal solutions. The program seeks to – in a measurable way – (1) improve the health and well-being of low-income, medically vulnerable patients, (2) reduce the incidence of harmful health disparities at the population level, and (3) enhance the quality, efficiency, and efficacy of health care delivery to low-income patients.
