TSNE Awarded $1 Million Grant for New Initiative Supporting Mission-Driven Organizations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BOSTON, MA — Third Sector New England, Inc. (TSNE), a nonprofit capacity building organization, is thrilled to announce that it is launching a new Shared Services initiative to provide essential support for mission-driven organizations in Greater Boston. This work is being supported by a generous grant from the Barr Foundation to help TSNE further its mission of partnering with organizations to lead change and create a just world.
With a commitment to equity, this initiative aims to provide “back-office” administrative, financial, and operational support (accounting, bookkeeping, financial management, payroll, human resources, IT, etc.), and develop a cooperative and accessible model for “front-office” operations (strategy, communications, evaluation, fund development, etc.) to sustain mission-driven organizations. This initiative is crucial to forwarding TSNE’s commitment to partner with mission-based organizations to ameliorate the systemic and structural inequities at the root of fostering true change.
“This funding will enable us to provide nonprofits, particularly those working to increase equitable outcomes for marginalized communities, with a quality and level of support that is not typically accessible to small or midsize organizations. The new Shared Services initiative will leverage and build on TSNE’s many strengths and provide a “one-stop” shop to support nonprofits working to achieve their missions and change their communities” said Elaine Ng, President and CEO of TSNE.
Complementing TSNE’s work in fiscal sponsorship, consulting and training, and property management, the Shared Services initiative aligns with TSNE’s commitment to partner and provide the resources, expertise, and skills to deliver high quality support and services that make the movement toward a more just world possible. This initiative addresses the fundamental inequity that many small and midsize nonprofits face with a lack of access to efficient, effective, and quality administrative and operational support, the high costs for said support, and the urgency behind these needs for mission-based organizations. TSNE is shifting what’s possible for mission-based organizations of all sizes.
“We are excited about this initiative’s potential to help more nonprofits – especially small organizations – access high-quality, affordable, and equity-centered services so that they can focus on what matters most: advancing their mission” said Rory Neuner, Senior Learning Officer at the Barr Foundation.
“This transformational grant award from the Barr Foundation is a testament to the long-standing, significant partnership between our two organizations. We are truly grateful to the Barr Foundation for this investment, and together, will advance critical solutions for nonprofits that centers equity and help communities thrive” said Michael Ibrahim, TSNE’s Chief Program and Impact Officer.
