Chiara Wegener (she/her) joins TSNE as the Director of Marketing & Communications with fifteen years experience working in communications in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, Chiara served as Managing Director of Communications at FullScale (formerly the Aurora Institute), a national education nonprofit working to reshape K-12 systems. Prior to that, Chiara served as the Chief Communications Officer at the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, New England’s largest philanthropic organization focused exclusively on public education. At Nellie Mae, Chiara led innovative communications strategies that helped build public understanding and demand for student-centered approaches to learning, and drove conversations about making our school systems more racially just. Chiara’s work has helped senior leaders land thought leadership pieces in outlets such as The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Inside Philanthropy, among others.
Prior to her work at Nellie Mae, Chiara brings experience working at YouthBuild Boston, and working as a reporter for NPR affiliate WFUV News, as well as freelance reporting for daily papers in the metro Boston area. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and urban studies from Fordham University and a master’s degree in corporate and organizational communications from Northeastern University. Chiara lives in Quincy, MA with her husband and two young children.
